Today, I’m excited to walk you through the foundational stages of creating our new trading card game, focusing on setting the stage and developing our basic card mechanics. Keep in mind, we’re in the early days, so while everything might look a bit rough around the edges, it’s all part of the process.

Crafting the World

Right now, we’re laying down the very first layers of what will become the world of Miragul. Our current environments are basic—simple landscapes meant to serve as placeholders. These sketches are crucial, however, as they set the tone and help us visualize the potential of the game. Right now, graphics are just in a starting point. It will evolve significantly as we refine the game’s aesthetics in future updates.

The Mechanics of Hand System

Our primary focus at this stage is getting the mechanics right. This system is designed to mimic the natural way you’d handle cards in your hands. As you select a card, it smoothly comes into focus, making it easy to choose your next move without losing track of your overall strategy.

Currently, the visuals and animations are basic. We’ve implemented them in this way to test functionality and ensure everything works seamlessly from a gameplay perspective. We’re keeping the design minimalistic for now, concentrating on the mechanics rather than the final look.

Why early development looks matter

You might notice that our game doesn’t look perfect yet and surely right now you cant call it a game either. That’s entirely intentional. Early development is about building strong bones, the visual beauty and detailed graphics will come later. By focusing on the mechanics first, we ensure that the gameplay is solid, intuitive, and fun, which is the core of any good game.

What’s Next?

As we continue building and testing, the game will start to take on more character and style. We’re excited about this process and eager to involve you every step of the way. Future updates will bring more refined visuals and enhanced features.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our journey. We’re just getting started, and your support means the world to us. Keep an eye on our blog and make sure to visit our other channels for the latest updates and developments!
